Long Time Coming

My, my, I've been away for a while. I have so much to catch up on! First off, I wanted to announce my new sponsorship from Odwalla! Race Results

February 2010
UCSD Tritonman Sprint
500m swim/20 k (12mi bike)/5k (3.1mi) run

Highlights: Another surprising 3rd place age-group finish! I think I owe it to the rain for deterring a lot of athletes from showing up. Regardless, I felt great and did the best I could despite how little I was able to train for this race. I could get used to coming home with hardware :)

Lowlights: Got some nice sun in the eyes during the swim which made it difficult to spot the bouys. Very muddy transition. I carried my bike and shoes out of T1 and set the bike down to finish it up. Luckily, a kind spectator offered to hold my bike up for me.

Finishing Time: 1:21:03

Camp Pendleton Sprint Triathlon
500m swim/30k (18.75mi) bike/5k (3.1) mi run

Highlights: Surprising 3rd place finish in my age group (out of 44 women!) and running 7:30 min/mi pace on the run. Even shaved a couple minutes off my time from last year.

Lowlights: Ocean swim still rough (and slow), even with lots of open water practice and a wetsuit that fits. Windy bike ride but can't complain, it was a good day!

Finishing Time: 1:45:34

June 2009

Splash 'N Dash- Point Loma Sub Base

500m swim/5k (3.1mi.) run

Highlights: Finishing 1st in age-group, 2nd female, and 19th out of 61 overall. Running faster than I've run in a long time!

Lowlights: During the race I went to spit and it didn't quite happen so it got on myself and then I wiped it with my hand. Gross! Other than that, no complaints. I even won a raffle prize!!

Big Rock Triathlon- Lake Perris, Ca
1500m swim/40k (25 mi.) bike/ 10k (6.2 mi.) run

Highlights: Finishing my first Olympic Distance triathlon! Swim was right on at 2 min/100 pace; rode faster than anticipated on the bike with an average pace of 18.5 mph; placing 3rd in my age group.

Lowlights: Running forever on the sand up to T1; horrible oblique cramp for most of the run; only 5 people were in my age group.

Finishing Time: 3:07:37

August 2008
Camp Pendleton Sprint Triathlon- Oceanside, CA
500m swim/ 30k (18.75 mi.) bike/ 5k (3.1 mi.) run

Highlights: Averaged 17 mph on the bike leg and just under 8-minute mile pace on the run.

Lowlights: Ocean water swim set up around a rip current, losing the wet suit I borrowed for the race. Ouch!

Finishing Time: 1:46:11

400m swim/13.5mi. bike/ 5k (3.1 mi.) run

Highlights: Finishing my first triathlon!

Lowlights: Dropping the chain twice at the start of the bike leg.
